i have always like terra firma, loosely translated as the firm ground, or solid ground. i feel shaken up on mushy, rather on muddy ground. i dont like the feeling, like i'm sinking.
as a child, i sidestepped cracks on the ground. those cracks in pavement brought on by the years? i avoided them like a plague. didnt you know that green stuff oozed from the cracks from the ground and they would melt your feet like acid. no? oh, is that something from the twilight zone? *cue Twilight Zone music*

Hi - visiting from Mama Kat's. You know I used to have to step on the crack in the same spot on the second foot as I had on the first foot. I was OCD about it. And if I missed a crack on one foot, I had to miss it on the other foot too.
ReplyDeleteI remember avoiding the cracks in the pavement as a child, too. It was like a game.
ReplyDeleteVisiting from Mama Kat's.
Fascinating about the ground! I know that when I was in school and we had gym class I hated sinking in the soft soil! I liked to play on the pavement! : )
ReplyDeleteI still don't step on cracks either, mostly because if my mom has a broken back then how can she babysit for me!
ReplyDeleteI used to have a thing about cracks..."don't step on the crack or you'll break your mother's back!" That always struck me as silly but I still avoided them.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you Cheri...I prefer solid ground!
Have a blessed day!
I used to do that too when I was younger. I still hate not having my feet on the ground ... i will not go on amusement rides and HATE airplanes
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by my blog - following you now.
Have a great day!

It's funny the things we did as kids. I used to jump over the cracks too, but because I was sure that everyone I stepped on would kill my mother!
ReplyDeleteI'm not scared of much... but as I kid I always had dreams about my teeth falling out! I worry about that a lot haha.
ReplyDeleteAnd knives. If someone else is holding a sharp knife around me, I back away and often leave the kitchen. My fiance finds this hilarious.
Sometimes I find myself rather compulsively avoiding cracks. Not because I'm scared, just because I'm a little OCD that way. ;)
ReplyDeleteI hate to step in cracks with the heel of my (high-heeled) shoes. I hate that sinking feeling!
ReplyDeleteuhhhh i still do that. thanks for commenting on my blog!
