falling from grace

jackjack fell from the bed last night. he was already asleep on the bed (we co-sleep) so i told the hubby that i would be stepping out of the room (he sleeps on another mattress on the floor). i was doing some last minute things before i turn in for the night when i heard a loud "thud!" followed by crying.

i ran into the room and the hubby and i both reached him at the same time. he was lying on his back on the floor and was loudly crying. hubby carried him first, worriedly saying, "ano nangyari sa yo, anak? gumulong ka ba? di ba sabi ko sa yo una paa pag bababa ka ng kama?" (what happened, son? did you roll over? didnt i tell you that if you're going down from the bed, go down feet first?) he was still crying from the rude awakening of falling down and was reaching for me. hubby finally gave him to me and the crying ceased to sniffles. i held him close and whispered those same questions. jackjack mumbled, like he was telling me what happened. i was trying so hard not to shake, worried sick that he might turn blue anytime and throw up or have seizures.

we were able to calm him down and he started walking around the room again. he was annoyed because he wanted to go back to sleep but we wouldnt let him (i was worried he wouldnt wake up). after a quick inspection (a slight bump on the back of his head) and a bottle of milk, he went off to sleep again. hubby and i decided to trade sleeping arrangements for the night. jackjack and i slept on the mattress on the floor and he slept on the bed.

when he woke up this morning, he didnt complain of any pain. he still isnt, although i'm still worried he might get future conditions because of that fall. i read that a child who fell and hit his head might suffer from seizures in the future.
